Movie Night Agenda

Family Movie Night is a favorite around here. Once or twice a month, we all gather in the basement family room for movie time.

The kids have a routine that is predictable. N always asks to sit by me on the loveseat while K grabs a warm blanket and stretches out on the couch.

G has claimed the recliner as his preferred movie-watching-spot. He has also been known to bring along a book or magazine, just in case he doesn't like the movie selection. More often than not, he starts out insisting he will just read..."I don't want to watch this. It is for babies," he will complain. Of course, I generally catch him enjoying the movie just as much as his younger brother and sister - not that I'd ever point that out to him.

There will be popcorn. Mike mans the microwave. Between Boy Scout popcorn sales and his job with a company that manufactures popcorn, we are never short on the stuff.

At some point during the evening, a cat will appear, recognizing that this is a good time to get some attention. Children not running around or yelling? Seated comfortably on a couch for an extended period of time? With a free hand? Yep, the cats are big fans of Family Movie Night.

When the movie is over, the kids give it a review. (We used to keep track of the movies we watched and each person's rating of it in a Family Movie Night notebook, but apparently that was too much effort for Family Movie Night.) Then it is time for bed.

Except on this particular night, when Gnomeo & Juliet apparently brainwashed them into a maniac state. N put on a little "Crazy Man Dance" at the end.

And they finished off Family Movie Night with a dogpile.

Definitely not part of the regular movie night agenda!

I'm participating in Sunday Snapshot over at Ni Hao Y'all. Come join in the fun!

We use to have movie nights together too, but as the kids have gotten older, it is harder to get them all home at the same time, OR...they can't agree on what to watch. :-( Enjoy these days...they make special memories.

Love cat snuggles!
