We attended the New Year's eve celebration at a local museum. The museum had a band performing for the kids and crafts set up.

As the clock approached noon, the kids armed themselves with the noisemakers and bubble wrap that the museum staff handed out as we entered the event.

Then it was just time to watch for the ball to drop...

...and make a lot of noise when it finally did. My kids are good at making noise.

Afterwards, we headed out for lunch at a local burger restaurant, which was fabulous until I saw the bill. How can you spend $60 on hamburgers and fries? (Thankfully, we had a gift certificate - thanks, Mom and Dad!) The gourmet burgers and truffle fries were great, but let's be honest...my kids would have been equally thrilled to go to Red Robin. Next time, I will remember that!
N headed out to a party at a local bowling alley, which left G and K home to play the Wii. K had fun trying out a few dance game:

Once N got home, we settled in to play games and watch TV until midnight. Marmalade was very interested in K's root beer float.

This is the first year that the kids have stayed up late enough to ring in the new year. Mike and I really value our sleep so we went through a long debate on this one, but I'm glad we decided to stay up for the ball drop in New York. The kids were excited to see the Times Square celebration (although they didn't really "get" Lady Gaga..LOL.) Insert more noisemakers along with party hats that N brought back for his siblings from the party he went to earlier in the evening.

G stayed up the extra hour to ring in the new year in our time zone, while everyone else happily got some sleep.
I'm participating in Sunday Snapshot over at Ni Hao Y'all. Come join in the fun!

My kids both made it past midnight this year...I was amazed. We treasure our new year's eves at home. It is so much more fun than going out. We did end up with some friends over this year, but it is just so great to be at home!
My daughter stayed up with her cousins and grandmother while I went to bed. I figured that was the better choice since we had an 11 hour drive ahead of us on New Year's Day!
The picture with the cat is common place around here! Love it!
What fun celebrations! We have never been to our museums makebeilive midnight but it looks like it would be fun! Hope you have a wonderful year!
I can't believe G stayed up so late! We would never make it! Love that we can see the ball drop at 10!
